Our Wedding Bands

Before our wedding we did one of the coolest things we have ever done. We went to the Wedding Ring Workshop and we made each others wedding bands.

Workshops are located throughout the US and UK. We were lucky to have one in Seattle. We highly recommend the experience. You get to decided how you want your rings, from anything you can think up really. Then you actually make them from melting your chosen metal (ours was platinum) to milling, bending, sawing, soldering, shaping, detailing, buffing and polishing all while under the guidance of a principal jeweler. Our jeweler, Maru Almeida, was so wonderful to work with. She guided us through the entire process always allowing us do the work at our own pace, never taking over. You end up with what looks like a professionally crafted ring you purchased, no matter what your experience level.

Totally romantic. Our rings mean that much more to us.

Enjoy the photos.

It was a long day and we ended up exhausted but these rings are filled with love and nothing could be better.

Hit & Run Updates

Sorry it's been awhile. Loads happening around the Y and Z camp. Please excuse the hit & run nature of this update but I wanted to at least give you all a clue as to what is going on.

1. Bought a house!!!! It's perfect for us. Went from looking for a place to rent to buying in one month flat [surprise!]. The paperwork for that was Kah-RAY-Zeeeeeeeeee! Now in the midst of packing and moving.

2. The lovely Connie of Sogni e Sorrisi honored my blog with the Sunshine Award:

These blog awards really make me happy. I need to pass the award to some deserving blogs but I'll have to do that when I have a bit more time.

3. My shops are temporarily closed due to our move. I was lucky to score great space for my studio and won't reopen the shops until the new studio is set up. My best estimate is July or August.

4. Foxy Monster made it to the Etsy FRONT PAGE!!!!!!! Holy Smokes it was exciting! The Fly Home necklace was the lucky item selected.

It was on the front page on March 30, 2010 at 4 pm EST (1 pm PST) for a whole 20 minutes of massive views and hearts until it was sold. It was crazy to see how much traffic it generated. I now accomplished that goal I thought was so far off. Now I just need to repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat and....

Here's a Craft Cult screenshot of the front page. It sold out before I could capture it myself.

A BIG thank you to RomanticArt for creating the lovely treasury that included my necklace.

5. I am in full house brain mode. That is practically all I can think about. It's so exciting!!!

I hope you are all well and I will catch up with you all in the future. Please excuse my absence while I get lost in designing and setting up our new home :)

Catch-Up

Wow-Wee, Wednesday just rolled on past me. Things are a bit crazy around here, time-wise. Please bear with me as I attempt to accomplish way too many things at once.

Razzle Dazzle: On a delightful note, last week I was honored by this lovely award:

The equally dazzling and creative Tuesdai bestowed this bit of sparkle and I suggest you check out her blog for some of her wonderful reflections.

Heads up: On February 10th and 11th you will be able to enter a contest to win my Foxy Monster necklace, Loved to Death, on Megan's Studio M.M.E Blog.

Loved to Death

It will be her fourth and final giveaway in honor of her 500 followers. To enter just follow the rules posted on Megan's blogpost and remember you only have February 10th and 11th to enter. The winner will be announced on her blog on February 12th. I chose this particular necklace as the prize in honor of Valentine's Day. Good luck!

I have the best clients! On Tuesday I received this email from a Wonderland Dreams client:

Making you all happy and excited is my main intention when I design and fulfill your orders. Feedback is always such a delightful treat for me and I appreciate everyone who takes the time.

Well Dolls, time to get back to drowning in paperwork and designs for clients. If I trail off a bit in my rounds, know that I will eventually catch-up.

Check out Maris's post for some other lovely Valentine inspired items.

This has been an extremely busy week for me. When it rains it pours, never fails. Luckily, most of it is due to some exciting opportunities.

I have been missing my blog rounds and feel so out of touch :(
I will catch up with all of you soon.

Just a Tease

Finally able to put some design time in my studio.  The shops are understocked and I've had so many ideas swimming in my head whilst recouping.

Here's a small sample of new items heading to the Wonderland Dreams and Foxy Monster shops.

Photos tomorrow for some and listings this weekend and through next week.  More designs still to come. The Superfly Delicious shop has been super neglected.  Must remedy that very soon as well.

K, back to work!

Hugs,

Almost!

Hi, my name is Z and I am a Craft Cult addict.

I can spend hours perusing the Etsy front page treasury lists in The Vault. Since I have been laid up recouping from emergency surgery the past two weeks (don't fret, I am doing heaps better and I haven't talked about it because it's been stressful and I want to stay positive and move on and not moan and groan about it), I've had a ton a time [sigh] to spend in The Vault via my iPhone. So much so, that my gaze actually veered from its normally transfixed trance upon the parade of Etsy eye candy and I noticed a 'search for member' link.

What the heck, I'll enter foxymonster [click].

GADZOOKS!!! I was A-L-M-O-S-T on the Etsy front page!!!!!!

See there at the bottom. My Marie Antoinette Masquerade Earrings are in the middle of the 'Alternate Picks' for the front page.

ErinJade I heart you. She's the lovely soul who created this treasury which was on the front page of Etsy at 2:00am EST, Sunday, October 18, 2009. If a few things had sold, my earrings would have made it and then, massive exposure, Sunday 2am EST massive at least.  Well, that's the dream all us Etsians dream anyway.

I have to get on that dang elusive Front Page.  This means better photographs!!! Dang it dark, no sun, Seattle rain, cute little Craftsman house with hardly any windows or lights!!!!! I will find a way!!!! First stop, a friggin' camera store with some powerful lamps.  These dang things from Home 'Despot' are not strong enough!  I swear to you, the house sucks any light that manages to sneak in. Your time is nigh little light sucking house, we be moving soon! [end rant]

I'm still sooooper excited that I was an alternate.  It's a bit of props. You know, the "it's just an honor to be nominated" kind when they pan to you at the Oscars after your name was not called, yeah, like that.

I can dream and work hard so it's just a matter of time. [tick tick tick]

:)

A peek of what's to come.

I have been hard at work, for some time now, getting my site ready to launch. I expect to launch creativecoquette.com early 2010. If all goes well, January 2010 specifically.

I was asked to donate a piece to my niece's school auction, which will be held this February. I said of course and then began to fret. No pressure. It's just the first time my designs will be 'out there'. The first time my Creative Coquette line, still fun but definitely a bit more sophisticated, will be viewed and judge by people who don't know me personally. Plus, it needs to get some bids!

I thought I would share my creation as it will also give you an idea of what is to come.

Sophia ~ Lariat Necklace
Mixed metal lariat necklace. Handmade featuring uncirculated vintage components. Overall length, 50". 24k gold plated accents. Bronze, gold and copper plating.

It's extremely versatile and so easy to wear. I've shown just 3 of ways to wear it above. It's what I call 'effortless chic'. You could be in t-shirt and jeans or a simple little black dress and violà, instant glam.

I'd love to know what you all think.

My new favorite Alice.

New items are slowly being listed in the Wonderland Dreams shop. There's more to come but here is my latest favorite:

Comes on a rich black velvet cord with black diamond Swarovski crystals.

I didn't get a chance to show off my previous favorite as it sold almost immediately, love when that happens :)

This next one isn't listed yet. I must have been very tired when I attempted to photograph it as this is the only decent photo. I'll have to re-shoot before I can list.

I received some supplies I've been waiting for yesterday and I hope to get in some design time this week. I do have more pressing time consuming matters to deal with however, so we shall see.

One Year Ago Today...

Cadeau Ring ~ Most Popular Foxy Monster Ring

...I launched Foxy Monster on Etsy.

I have since added two new shops, Wonderland Dreams & Superfly Delicious.

My dream of Creative Coquette is getting closer and closer. The new look for this blog is part of getting that dream to full fruition. As of today, the blog, website & twitter all have a unified look. Settling on the look and creating all the icons, illustrations and code has been, and will continue to be, one big ball of crazy work. As of today I am happy, YAYs!!!!!!

I will be busy with my wonderful FMIL, future-mom-in-law, for the next two weeks. She's an awesome giggle partner and I am hoping to take the 'good' camera out for a spin while she's here as we get to go play. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

There are still a few tweaks needed to be done on the blog layout, especially on the side bars, so I'll be working away on it a bit more. I really need to work on more items for the shops. I have a bunch of stuff that just needs to be listed but that is a whole process in an of itself.

Before anything, I must finish my attempt at re-organizing my studio. My office/studio is in complete disarray as I have been rearranging my storage room and studio. I'm afraid I won't be able to get it in any decent shape before C arrives (I know you're probably reading this so consider this a warning that the studio is in an embarrassing state, LOL).

O, and I have the 'Follower' widget working now so you can now add this blog to your follow list easily. It's over there on the right sidebar ---->

Smooches to you all,

We're All Mad Here

~Photographer: Lorenzo Agius

I am mad for all things Alice and I love to find new inspirations.

Visit Lorenzo Agius for more Alice themed photos under Fashion.

I adore all the characters in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll but I would have to pick the Mad Hatter as my favorite at this time in my life. With lines like these,

"If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?"

"If you knew Time as well as I do," said the Hatter, "you wouldn't talk about wasting it. It's him."

he tends to sum up a part of my life these days, LOL.
Seriously, I feel a bit topsy-turvy and my time space continuum is all out of whack!
Wait, what day is it?

Who is your favorite character and why?

Don't forget you can always get your Alice on with dreamy jewelry from my Wonderland Dreams Shop. We all need a bit of wonderland to remind us to keep our eyes open for the magic throughout our days.

Taaaaah-Daaaaaaah!!!!!

I have been MIA for a bit now and I know you all know I am getting married but that is pretty much under control at the moment, YAYs!!! What has been keeping me super busy is that beyond attempting to launch my own website, all by myself (which is still a major focus and time consumer), I also have decided to launch not one but TWO new shops on Etsy!

Introducing:

Wonderland Dreams
Dreamy Alice in Wonderland Jewelry

and
Superfly Delicious
Superfly Gifts and Delicious Paraphernalia

I started populating my shop this week and will be adding to the inventory, so keep checking in for new items.

There are so many wonderful little goodies I wish to get out there into your wonderful hands to make you feel beautiful, unique and giggly and I wish to do the same for your surroundings. These kind of items bring joy to my life and I just want to share :) It's all about the details in life and I really want to become known as the purveyor of beautiful little details. Throughout my career as an interior designer I was fortunate to do this on a much larger scale, entire rooms, houses, restaurants, buildings, shops, offices, car dealerships and even some magic at airports. I have just tuned my focus upon the individual. All I know is I am enjoying it immensely and I am pleased that I seem to be resonating out there with some kindred spirits.

Here is a look at some of the items recently listed:

and here is a look at the packaging:

I would love to know what you think! Feel free to leave comments, email me directly or even add me to your favorites (Oooooooooooo!).

Have a wonderful weekend!
