Food, Art & Friends: A Quickie Update

I just had a long (3 hours) wonderful lunch at Ortega 120 in Redondo
Beach, CA. Awesome place if you are ever in town.

The food was delicious, service great and the company even better - my
dearest girlfriends on the planet.

I also fell in love with this painting!

Parrot Tulips

I scored these last Saturday while at Pike Place Market. Three bunches, 30 tulips, for $20! I love tulips but these are my favorite variety. The colors and shapes are just so incredibly beautiful.

I love how they open up. Just dreamy!

My favorite flowers are these parrot tulips and stargazer lilies. I think I want parrot tulips for my wedding bouquet.

Parrot tulips, butterflies and cupcakes need to be part of our big day.

I found these wonderful place cards

from Timeless Paper.  You can order a minimum of 12 which is perfect for our tiny wedding. They will even print the names of each guest onto them for you. You can also visit their Etsy Shop.

As for cupcakes...unfortunately, we have not found any we are totally happy with in the Seattle area. None have measured up in flavor to Yummy Cupcakes in Burbank, CA. If any of you know a place, or someone, who does delicious and beautiful cupcakes in and around the Seattle area, please do send along that info.

A Beautiful Day in Seattle

Y and I took advantage of the beautiful day today and went out for brunch.
I took my camera with us.

He's growing a beard at the moment.
I like him both with or without.

The food at Lola was yummy! Y had the stack of golden brown pancakes with pork-maple sausage and spiced maple syrup. I had the house cured gravlax with chive cream cheese, tomatoes, capers, onions and rye ficelle. They were so good that I didn't even remember I had my camera until long after our empty plates were taken away, oops.

Lola is located at the Hotel Ă„ndra
It's under consideration as a possible wedding venue.

We strolled over to Pike Place Market taking advantage of our $5 all day parking score.

I could eat this everyday!

The daffodils were everywhere.
They made me feel like spring is definitely close at hand.
I scored a big load of my favorite parrot tulips.
I'm sure I'll have photos of them during the week.

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Wists & My Oooooo Psyche

I have recently become obsessed with a toy tool called Wists. It's too much fun and easy to use. You may have noticed some lovely images down the left sidebar.

What is it?
It's basically a place to create and store wishlists or recommendations you can share online and with friends and family. You are not tied to one store. You can add almost anything.

Why am I using it?
It's a great way to store items I discover while surfing the web without having to do too much or download and save endless links to my bookmarks.  Plus, it easily allows me to add an image of the item, straight off the actual page I am surfing, for a visual reference as well as add tags.

Not only can I steer my friends and family to my Wists page when the questions of 'what do you want for your birthday' etc. come up without having to go through the whole awkwardness of trying to answer that when they insist that they want to get me something, I can also share these great finds with you all.

Here is what I have found so far:

The beauty is you can add details (size, color, quantity) to the item's notes section so that any would be gift giver doesn't have to fret over such things. I have a wide range of price points, from a few dollars to waaaaaaaaaaay too much and I don't expect to ever receive this as a gift. The latter added more for sake of beauty and reference, although, if anyone ever gave me anything off this list at all I would be totally surprised and extremely ecstatic.

Mostly, this is used as a visual inspirational chart for myself.  I am curious to see the patterns, which I am already picking up on, develop over time. Currently, I am noticing turquoise is making a big splash in my Oooooo Psyche. This is a new development for my otherwise pinkness or extreme black.

What's currently tickling your Oooooo Psyche?

***On another note:

After drooling over the fabulishiously cute Lost Cupcakes Bri whipped up for the Lost premier,  girl has mad skillz, I had to have cupcakes for this week's episode. For reals, that was my excuse, heh heh. I bought ours, no major skillz in the cupcake department around my kitchen, thus far.

I also experimented with my newly acquired camera techniques and attempted to capture the cupcakes in pretty much the worst lighting possible. Direct overhead incandescent light, which barely lights up the room, in front of the plasma on the coffee table, at night. I had to push my settings to the max. Very hard to get an in focus shot since I wasn't willing to pull out the tripod. I had cupcakes to eat ya know. Here is my best photo straight out of the camera:

So you can really appreciate this, here is what the original settings produced:

No joke, worst lighting.

I wish all of you a wonderful weekend filled with twinkles and whatever makes you happy. Remember you are always the key to that happiness.

Wow-Wee, Wednesday just rolled on past me. Things are a bit crazy around here, time-wise. Please bear with me as I attempt to accomplish way too many things at once.

Razzle Dazzle: On a delightful note, last week I was honored by this lovely award:

The equally dazzling and creative Tuesdai bestowed this bit of sparkle and I suggest you check out her blog for some of her wonderful reflections.

Heads up: On February 10th and 11th you will be able to enter a contest to win my Foxy Monster necklace, Loved to Death, on Megan's Studio M.M.E Blog.

Loved to Death
It will be her fourth and final giveaway in honor of her 500 followers. To enter just follow the rules posted on Megan's blogpost and remember you only have February 10th and 11th to enter. The winner will be announced on her blog on February 12th. I chose this particular necklace as the prize in honor of Valentine's Day. Good luck!

I have the best clients! On Tuesday I received this email from a Wonderland Dreams client:

Sent by Mylisse on February 02, 2010:

I just received the package last night!!

I'm in looooove with this piece, it's beautiful!!!!...a wonderful piece that I can't wait to wear!!! and really great packaging also (box, bow etc).
I shall leave some feedback through Etsy's feedback system.

Don't stop the good work and i'm looking forward to buy again from you in the future!!

Have a great day.

Making you all happy and excited is my main intention when I design and fulfill your orders. Feedback is always such a delightful treat for me and I appreciate everyone who takes the time.

Well Dolls, time to get back to drowning in paperwork and designs for clients. If I trail off a bit in my rounds, know that I will eventually catch-up.
